The Toxic Effect of Water-Soluble Particulate Pollutants from Biomass Burning on Alveolar Lung Cells

چکیده
In 2018, 3.8 million premature deaths were attributed to exposure biomass burning nanoparticles from wood combustion. The objective of this study was investigate and compare the toxic effect wood-combustion-related three different combustion stages (i.e., flaming, smoldering, pyrolysis) on alveolar lung cells, by studying cell proliferation, structural behavioral parameters. A549 epithelial cells treated with 31, 62, 125, 250, 500 µg/mL water-soluble particulate pollutants burning, measured means real-time analysis, imaging, phase imaging microscopy. At low concentrations (31 62 µg/mL), all types samples exhibited no toxicity. 125 µg/mL, they caused decreased proliferation compared control. Exposure higher (250 µg/mL) killed cells. Cell physical parameters (area, optical volume, eccentricity, perimeter, thickness) (migration, motility, motility speed) did not change in response materials up a concentration µg/mL. changed thickness for smoldering flaming particles, led migration, speed conclusion, organic identified as equally analysis (RTCA) results. describing structure suggest that pyrolysis particles slightly less than others.

Indoor air particulate (PM) exposure is several folds more dangerous than outdoor air owing to burning of different materials. Burning biomass emits toxic fumes that are found to be associated with numerous health problems such as respiratory diseases, etc. In our study area, approximately 80% of the population of Chhattisgarh state, central India use biomass such as wood, and cow dung as...

Purpose: The effects of Amiodarone on lung tissue and morphologic changes of alveolar cells. Materials and Methods: in this study, we used 21 mature male rabbits and they were divided into control and two experimental groups. Daily 80 mg/kg amiodarone was injected intra peritoneally to the experimental animals for one or two weeks. The control group received normal saline the same dose as amio...

OBJECTIVE To analyze the effects of exposure to fine particulate matter from burning on hospital admissions due to respiratory diseases in children and the elderly. METHODS This is an ecological time series study that took place in the city of Cuiaba, Mato Grosso, in Brazil's Amazon Region, in 2005. Information on the daily levels of fine particulate matter PM2.5 was made available by the Bra...
